Caring For Newborns and Hatchlings
that have fallen to the bottom of the container. The ivy is also used for the chameleons
to drink off of. Baby chameleons need a lot of water. Mist them at least 3 times a day. It is also
good to give them a low-wattage basking spot, except for cooler-climate species, such as Four-Horned
(chamaeleo quadricornis) and Montium Chameleons (chamaeleo montium), which should only be given
low-heat flourescent lighting. Babies should stay in this container until they reach about 3
inches long. Then they can be moved to a small screen-cage, and should be offered slightly
larger insects. Once they reach 2-3 months of age, they should be seperated individually or into small groups.
