placed a humidifier on our Four-Horned Chameleons (Chamaeleo quadricornis), they basked right near where the humidifier ejected the vaporized water for about 2 hours. They really enjoy this, and do it almost all the time the humidifier is turned on. Most chameleons do not require this much humidity, but if the humidity level is too low, they will soon get dehydrated. Another way to increase the humidity is to mist the cage several times a day, but this is not nearly as good as a humidifier. Humidifiers can be purchased for about $15 to $20, but if you buy one, you MUST make sure that it is a cool mist humidifier. The very best humidifiers to purchase are ultrasonic humidifiers. They expell a fog-like mist, drastically increasing the humidity in the surrounding area. However, they do cost upwards of $60, but are well worth it.
