Care Nav Hydrating your Chameleon

It is important that your chameleon receives enough water. You should purchase (or make) a dripper and a spay bottle when you get your chameleon. A chameleon drinks water that as accumulated on leaves, and they very rarely will drink out of a bowl. Leave the dripper on for at least an hour a day to give your chameleon ample time to drink. However, do not solely rely upon a dripper, as we have noticed that some chameleons will ignore them. Also, mist the chameleon at least three times a day with a spray bottle, which will put water on leaves throughout the cage, increase the humidity, and cool the chameleon off if temperatures are too high. Chameleons can also absorb water through their skin and nostrils, so misting them also aids in their hydration. Dehydration can cause lethargy, sickness, and eventually death. If the top of the chameleons head, it's cheeks, and it's eyes look sunken and dry, it is most likely suffering from dehydration. To re-hydrate your chameleon, put it and it's plant in the shower and turn the water on low (with lukewarm water), and leave it in there for about an hour. Another method is took take the chameleon outside and shower it on it's plant for an hour or so.
