Species Nav Two-Horned Mountain Chameleon
(chamaeleo montium)

They are a relatively small species, males only growing to be 8 or 10 inches in total length, and females can grow to maybe 6 inches in total length. This chameleon species is very beautiful. Their regular colors are high in bright greens, whites, and even light blues and yellows. However, when stressed, they turn a very drab and unpleasant brown. They are a very nice and pleasant species to work with, and they tolerate to be around other species of chameleons such as Jackson's and Four-Horned Chameleons. However, we have also noticed that one of our females would not eat when it was in the same cage as a female Blue-Crowned Chameleon (chamaeleo cristatus), and the second we placed it in an individual cage, she ate right away. We have noticed that when this species will not eat the usual diet of crickets, an offering of moths or mealworms gets them started on a more basic diet. We have had one that would not eat for days, and the minute it saw a mealworm, it ate it right away, and continued eating them for a prolonged period of time.
