Species Nav Four-Horned Chameleon
(chamaeleo quadricornis)

The Four-Horned Chameleon is not for the novice chameleon owner. They require low temperatures that range from 55°F to 75°F, but dipping to 30°F during the winter. Humidity should always be kept between 90 to 100 percent. Four-Horned Chameleons, also known as the Cameroon Bearded Chameleon and simply "Quads", are usually a bright green and can develop some browns along their sides as they reach maturity. We have noticed that captive born animals get a lot bluer than imports. The males can grow between 2 and 6 horns that all grow from the same general spot on the tip of their snout, and have a large sail-fin t hat stretches down their entire back and part of their tails. The females lack the horns an only have a very small sail-fin. Males and females both grow to about 14 inches in total length. Females lay between 10-15 eggs about 3 times a year. The eggs hatch approximately 4 to 5 months after being laid. Four-Horned
