Mounatin Dwarf Chameleon
(chamaeleo rudis)
The Rudis Chameleon is found in the Middle-Eastern countries in Africa, but mainly from Tanzinia. The
Rudis Chameleon is one of the smallest chamaeleo species, only reaching about 6-7 inches in total length.
The bodies of male and female Rudis Chameleons look similar, but the males of the species have more blues
and yellows than the females, which are basicalls straight green. A Rudis Chameleon should be kept in
temperatures ranging from 60°F to 80°F, and rarely above or below those. They require very high humidity,
ranging in the 90% to 100% areas. They are a live bearing species that can have between 5 to 12 young every
7 or 8 months.
Rudis Chameleons sometimes have a very picky diet. A male of ours would rarely eat crickets, but would especially
enjoy sowbugs and moths. However, a female of ours would readily eat almost any insect that was shown to her.
In any case, a varying diet is important to these, and all, chameleons.
