The Veiled Chameleon is very common in pet stores around the US. Their popularity is due to the fact they are one of the hardiest species of chameleons, and are very easy to breed. Veiled Chameleons are also one of the most agressive of any chameleon species, especially the males. They have been know to bite and thrash peoples hands and rip apart other species of chameleons. When you get a new Veiled Chameleon you should work with it every day. Handle it a lot once it gets to be about 4 inches long to get it accustomed to people holding it. If you neglect to handle your Veiled every day, it will become more aggressive as it grows older. They can withstand both low and high temperatures from 45°F to 100°F, but with high humidity. They eat a wide range of insects as well as fruits and vegetables as adults. Metabolic bone disease is a very big problem among Veiled Chameleons.
